This Europe map quiz checks how well you know the 27 countries of the European Union by their place on the map. Each of the 15 rounds shows Europe with one EU member highlighted in red. Most rounds ask you to name the country. A few ask a follow-up instead, such as its capital, its currency or a record it holds.
The quiz moves from the big, easy shapes like France, Germany and Italy to smaller countries that people often confuse, such as Slovenia and Slovakia or the three Baltic states. It suits students of European geography or politics, travellers planning an Interrail trip, and anyone who wants a quick brain workout. Your score appears straight away, and every answer, with a short explanation, is listed lower on the page.
To get better, learn the map in regions: the Iberian Peninsula, the Nordic countries, the Baltic trio, and the Danube countries of central Europe. Remember too that not every European country is in the EU. Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom sit outside it, so they appear grey on these maps.
Fun fact: Croatia is the newest EU member. It joined in 2013, and in 2023 it adopted the euro and joined the Schengen area in the same year.
