About this Sports quiz

This sports quiz packs 15 questions about sports from India and around the world into a quick game you can finish in about four minutes. It covers the Olympics, cricket, hockey, tennis, badminton, kabaddi, golf, basketball and football, so a fan of any one game will find something familiar and something new.

The questions run from easy to tricky. Warm-ups ask about team sizes and the Olympic rings, then the quiz on sports moves to India's Olympic heroes, the first Cricket World Cup and the scoring words that trip people up, such as 'love' in tennis and 'eagle' in golf. Every question comes with a one or two line explanation, so you leave knowing more than when you started.

It suits school students, college quiz teams, office quiz breaks and families. Teachers can use it as a five-minute sports quiz with answers at the start of a PE lesson, and quizmasters can borrow the sports quiz questions in the answers section for a round of their own. Try to beat your own score, then share it and challenge a friend.

Fun fact: India has won eight Olympic gold medals in men's hockey, more than any other nation, and Major Dhyan Chand was part of three of those winning teams. His birthday, 29 August, is now celebrated every year as National Sports Day.
