About this FIFA World Cup quiz

This world cup quiz game takes you through nearly a century of football's biggest tournament, from Uruguay in 1930 to the expanded 48-team World Cup of 2026, won by Spain. The 15 questions start with warm-ups any fan should know, such as which country has the most titles, and build towards real stumpers about stolen trophies, record-breaking finals and the arrival of VAR.

It works as quick FIFA World Cup trivia for a coffee break, a round for a pub or office quiz, or a set of GK questions on FIFA World Cup history for students and quiz club practice. Every question comes with a short explanation, so even a wrong answer teaches you something. Play once on your own, then share your score and see if your friends can beat it. The full list of FIFA World Cup quiz questions and answers is printed further down the page, so teachers and quiz hosts can read them out without playing.

One fun fact to take away: only 13 teams played at the first World Cup in 1930, and most European sides stayed home because the trip to South America took about two weeks by ship. Today more than 200 national teams enter qualifying.
