About this Kerala GK quiz

This Kerala GK quiz brings you 15 questions on 'God's Own Country', from the backwaters and monsoon to its reformers and record-setters. It starts with easy Kerala general knowledge, like the capital and Onam, and moves to harder questions on Vasco da Gama's landing, Anamudi, east-flowing rivers, Silent Valley, the Vaikom Satyagraha and Kerala's famous firsts. Each answer comes with a short explanation, so you learn something even when you guess wrong.

The quiz suits teens, adults and students who want a quick quiz on Kerala, and it makes a useful practice round for Kerala PSC GK, where state history, geography and renaissance leaders appear in almost every paper. Play it once, read the answer key, then replay after a day or two to see how much you retained. Teachers and quiz clubs can also use these Kerala quiz questions and answers for a classroom round around Kerala Piravi on 1 November.

One fact many people get wrong: of Kerala's 44 rivers, only three, the Kabini, Bhavani and Pambar, flow east into Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. The rest rush west from the Western Ghats to the Arabian Sea, which is why most Kerala rivers are short and fast.
