These IAS GK questions are a 15-question set for aspirants preparing for the Civil Services Examination, the gateway to the IAS, IPS and IFS. The mix covers the ground that prelims tests year after year: constitutional provisions, ancient and modern history, physical geography, environment conventions, economy basics, science and Indian culture.
The difficulty is medium to hard. Several questions are designed around close pairs that aspirants often confuse, such as Nalanda and Vikramashila, Article 352 and Article 356, or Chipko and Appiko. The explanation under each answer sorts out the pair, so you leave with both facts clear instead of one.
To get the most out of it, attempt the set in one sitting, mark the questions where you were unsure even if you got them right, and revise those from the Constitution text and NCERT books. If you like a daily quiz routine, combine this page with our UPSC quiz and the monthly current affairs sets so your IAS general knowledge stays fresh across static and current topics.
A fact worth remembering: the first woman to preside over the Indian National Congress was not an Indian. Annie Besant, born in London, led the 1917 Calcutta session, eight years before Sarojini Naidu became the first Indian woman to do so.
