About this TMKOC Cast quiz

This TMKOC cast quiz looks behind the camera and the costumes at the actors of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. The 15 questions cover their film roles before the show, family links between cast members, roles that almost went to someone else and the actors who replaced others over the years.

It is for fans who already know the characters well and want the next layer: who played whom, and how the cast changed over 18 years on air. Played with friends or family, it usually sets off a round of 'I didn't know that' about the cast. Each answer has a short note.

The show has run since July 2008, which is long enough for a whole generation of child actors to grow up and move on, and for several lead roles to be recast. Some actors, like the ones who play Jethalal and Popatlal, have been there from the first episode, while others joined only in the 2020s.

How long has Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah been on air?

Since 28 July 2008 on SAB TV, now Sony SAB. It passed 4,000 episodes in February 2024 and is still running in 2026.

Is Disha Vakani still Dayaben in TMKOC?

No. Disha Vakani went on maternity leave in 2017 and has not returned as a regular. As of October 2026 the producer has spoken of bringing Dayaben back with a new actress, but no casting has been confirmed.
