This animated movie quiz is built for family night. It covers the films children and parents watch together: Disney classics, Pixar favourites, DreamWorks and Illumination hits, and a little Japanese anime. The 15 questions are about characters, animals, places and the occasional story from behind the scenes, so there is no need to remember release years.
Younger players will know Frozen, Encanto and the Minions, while adults are more likely to remember the Disney classics, The Lion King and the first Toy Story. That mix makes it a good quiz to play as teams, with a child and a grown-up on each side. Every answer has a short explanation that is easy to read out.
Feature animation began with hand-drawn films in the late 1930s. Computer animation took over from the mid-1990s, led by Pixar, and the Academy added an Oscar for animated features in 2002. Today studios in the US, Japan, Europe and India all make animated films, and many of the best are watched by adults as much as by children.
